KINIOR & MAKARUK

WŁODZIMIERZ KINIORSKI: SAX, VOCAL, PERCUSSION DARIUSZ MAKARUK: LIVE ELECTRONICS, SYNTHS, SAMPLERS

The band has been playing experimental electronic jazz since 2001. In short, their music can be described as an improvisation of electronic and acoustic instruments inspired by modern music and minimalism . Elements of Asian and European ethnic music performed in contemporary interpretation are often mixed with free jazz and ambient. Sometimes the Kinior & Makaruk oscillate towards traditional song structure, however strongly transformed and set free by improvisation.

Current repertoire includes band’s own pieces, where electronic section is constantly balanced with acoustic timbres. The repertoire frame is a sort of basis from which musicians walk away during performance, build innovative dramaturgy and new forms. Trance sounds and experimental electronics played by Makaruk can morph into click’n cutz drums with shamanic vocals or Kinior’s saxophone improvisations. Vast richness of sounds and illustrative sensibility on stage are greatly appreciated by cooperative VJ’s, theathres and visual arts producers.

Kinior & Makaruk have performed at Polish Sound Art in China Festival, Polen Vecka in Visby, Sweden, 750 years of Lviv City, Ukraine, Jazz Jantar Festiwal in Gdynia, Dialog Festiwal in Łódź, Polsk Jazzfestival 2003 in Stockholm, Przestrzeń Umysłu Festival, Firmament Festival in Kielce, Artist’s Summer in Olsztyn 2004, Viathea Festiwal in Görlitz, Germany and at European Theathre Festival Zbliżenia in Płońsk.
